Meet Our Communications Director

Urban Climate Leadership (UCL) is thrilled to welcome Wanjiru Munene as our new Communications Director.

Wanjiru is an experienced, people-centred storyteller, and strategic communications leader. Her work is grounded in the belief that stories have the power to shift narratives, connect, inspire, and create meaningful change for communities to thrive. Her deep commitment to equity and climate justice makes her an outstanding addition to the UCL team.

As we continue working with local governments in dismantling obstacles to bold, equitable climate action, Wanjiru’s leadership will help amplify our voice, strengthen collaboration, and accelerate progress towards transforming systems for healthy, just, and climate-resilient cities.

Wanjiru joins Shauna and Mairin in scaling up UCL's work in Canada in advancing healthy, equitable and resilient communities with our partners in local government.
