DISCUSSION PRIMER: AI, CITIES, AND EQUITABLE CLIMATE ACTION
This discussion primer accompanies an upcoming, professionally facilitated Urban Climate Leadership (UCL) dialogue that builds on our earlier conversations about AI and climate action. It moves beyond identifying challenges and opportunities to focus on practical solution pathways for local governments navigating the growing role of artificial intelligence in cities.
On January 29, UCL will bring together participants from local governments, non-profit organizations, academia, and the private sector to define the core issues, explore how cities are currently using AI, consider the key decisions and trade-offs municipalities are facing, and surface potential solutions that support climate goals and community well-being.
The primer outlines the key themes and questions that will guide the dialogue and is designed to help local governments and their partners prepare for a thoughtful, informed discussion about how AI can be used responsibly and effectively in the context of climate action.
