Transitioning to Heat Pumps in Low-Rise Multi-Unit Residential Buidlings (MURBs)

“Every challenge, every adversity, contains within it the seeds for opportunity and growth” …Roy Bennett, Author

The challenges of transitioning to heat pumps in low-rise multi-unit residential buildings (MURBs) in BC are well documented.  Buildings have different tenure structures, energy profiles, retrofit needs, electrical capacity and financing ability and each require a targeted solution.

But what isn’t discussed as readily are the opportunities that emerge when we do solve for this transition. BC’s path to solving the transition to low-carbon heat pumps is not just about upgrading technology—it’s about creating a multi-solving framework that brings together environmental, economic, and social benefits.

Urban Climate Leadership is excited to present this next report in our series on transitioning to heat pumps in low-rise multi-urban residential buildings. It is the product of over 70 leaders from the private, public and non-profit sector coming together to create integrated solutions to address this complex problem.
